Some background on the boat
Murihiku is a 2009 Lagoon Catamaran Series 2, Premium, 4 cabin and was shipped new to Puerto Rico from France. The Lagoon Premium package means stronger motors and luxury extras including fabric and furnishings.
We purchased the boat in 2011 in Fajardo Puerto Rico, where she had been in charter with Sail Caribe http://www.sailcaribe.com/management.php, an American charter agency specialising in Lagoon catamarans. We had an independent survey done by a Florida surveyor prior to purchase. Our surveyor found the vessel to be structurally sound, and in good overall condition. The seller agreed to rectify all minor issues raised by the surveyor.
While we were in Puerto Rico, we had work completed on the boat by qualified American technicians. Much of this work was for cruising freely and more affordably in the Mediterranean without needing to plug in to power or water sources in marinas. This included getting a watermaker powered off the generator, solar panels, replacing batteries, and installing new alternators. We also took the opportunity to set up the boat for a cruising lifestyle - with a fridge-freezer, washing machine, kayaks, folding bikes, cooking equipment, linen, a life raft, safety equipment, first aid equipment and a new anchor (Rocna) and chain.
We shipped Murihiku from Puerto Rico to Genoa in 2012, and have since sailed her from Genoa down the Italian coast to Elba, across to Corsica, Sardinia, down to Sicily, through the Straits of Messina, across to the Ionian in Greece, then Corfu, Albania, Croatia, Italy and back to Corfu. We have cruising guides and recommendations for all these places, as well as Raymarine chips for for the Caribbean and for the Mediterranean.
We have maintained and upgraded Murihiku as we have traveled. In 2013 we replaced the engine and generator batteries, and in 2014 we replaced the Skipper's chair cushion, and recovered all the salon cushions and replaced the curtains (pictures in the photograph section). Each season when we haul the boat, we arrange for servicing of all 3 diesel engines (including the generator), change the oil, replace the zincs, sand and repaint the anti foul, and service the dinghy engine. In 2016 we replaced the house batteries.
In summary, we have had a wonderful time aboard and have seen amazing places. It is such a unique experience to arrive at these places from the sea, and to stay in our own place right in the middle of historic towns, isolated bays, and sheltered anchorages. We counted up, and over 50 friends and family (including lots of children) have travelled to come and spend time on the boat with us over the past years. We have so many happy memories, and now it is someone else's turn. If you think it might be you, do get in touch using the contact button - Ange and Deborah
